By Prince Muta- Controversial Dancehall superstar, Adidja "Vybz Kartel" Palmer has formally been slapped with a murder charge following a meeting between law enforcement officials and Kartel's lawyers . Investigators from the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) charged the self-professed "Worl' Boss" on Monday evening on three different offences. The offences include murder, illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to murder. According to reports, the charges stem from an alleged incident on July 11, 2011 when Palmer, along with a group of men, plotted to murder a St. Catherine based businessman/promoter. 27 year old, Barrington Burton aka "Bossie" was shot and killed while standing with friends alongside Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park. Kartel, along with a woman and two other men, was initially arrested and charged with ganja possession at a New Kingston hotel on Thursday night. On Friday, he was taken by police across several residences and premises allegedly owned by "Di Teacha." Reportedly, a badly burnt body was found in one of the premises in Havendale, St. Andrew weeks previously. Kartel was then held in a Kingston jail over the weekend and set to undergo a series of interrogations this week. A preliminary hearing for Kartel's case will be held at tomorrow at the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court.

Ivory Coast is due to swear in its Truth, Reconciliation and Dialogue Commission, aimed at forging unity after the post election violence which left about 3,000 people dead and 500,000 displaced. The 11-member body includes religious leaders, regional representatives and Chelsea footballer Didier Drogba to speak for Ivorians living abroad. The commission is modelled on South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission but it is not clear if it will be issuing amnesties and pardons. But do TRCs bring lasting peace? Does the process of talking about what happened help to heal the wounds or does it stir up emotions that are better left to die down naturally? Has your country had a TRC? If so, what did it achieve? Perhaps you think such a process would help a situation in your country? Which past conflicts in Africa might have benefitted from a truth commission?

malawi and tunisia had a crucial game. Both teams needed a win today in order to increase their chances to qualify for the 2012 Africa cup of Nations that will take place in Guinea. In the first half, the flames played well that they missed quiet some good chances.Tunisia had good chances too but they did not neutralise them. The first half ended 0-0.In the second half, malawi did not start well to the extent that they almost concided a goal in the first minutes.Tunisia played well in the second half but did not find a chance to score. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score was still 0-0.Malawi did not play an impresive match and my opinion is that malawi can not qualify with that standard unless changes have to be made in the team.Kinnah Phiri must focus on the midfield and the attacking force. Finally, congratulations flames,a draw is better than a loss.a had a crucial game. Finally, congratulations flames,a draw is better than a loss.
